"Deep Space"
Lustrous iridescent and metallic
glass, accents of dichroic; all on
a background of pure black. An
illusion of floating through
deep space.

"Or Maybe
Not"
Bring indecision to a
new height with glossy primaries and plenty of
whimsy. 100% fusion, no enamels or
powders.
|
"Love
Me Do"
It's
a many splendored thing,
lighthearted and freesprited. This thing called love captured in
gleaming glass for all to see.
|

"Imagine..."
Let your mind run free with the possibilites life
offers. Always hopeful, always gleeful, with the sun and stars
to lead the way.

GLASS
FUSION involves the stacking
or layering of glass sheets and cut glass pieces to create a unique
design. The layers are then then placed inside a kiln and heated
through a series of different
time/temperature heat cycles
until
the separate pieces begin to bond together.
The longer the kiln is held at the maximum temperature the more
thoroughly the stack will fuse, eventually softening and losing
its original shape.
|
Once
the desired effect has been achieved the kiln is then allowed to
cool in a slow and controlled “annealing” period.
Most of my fused pieces are taken to 1400 - 1500 degree and cooled
through the annealing period in a total 6 to 7 hour time frame,
the finished product retaining a raised definition of the layered
shapes.
Producing functional pieces requires a second firing to shape or
“slump” it in a reuseable ceramic mold.
